The Matrix is a 1999 American science fiction-action film written and directed by Larry and Andy Wachowski. The film describes a future in which reality as perceived by humans is actually the Matrix: a simulated reality created by sentient machines in order to pacify and subdue the human population, while their bodies' heat and electrical activity are used as an energy source.
Matrix est un film de science-fiction réalisé par les frères Andy et Larry Wachowski et sorti en 1999. Probablement inspiré de livres d'anticipation, tels qu'I, Robot d'Isaac Asimov ou le Neuromancien, il est le premier volet d'une trilogie qui se poursuivra avec les films Matrix Reloaded et Matrix Revolutions.
